Felt and Yarn Managing Director Ms. Sunita Sherpa receives the prestigious CIP Award from Prime Minister

Ms. Sunita Sherpa, an art enthusiast and the Managing Director of Felt and Yarn have been bestowed the Commercially Important Person award on February 22, 2020.

On the award function organized at the City Hall, Kathmandu by the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies of Nepal, Prime Minister K.P. Sharma Oli awarded Ms. Sunita Sherpa with the CIP as the Largest Female Youth Exporter for the fiscal year 2018/19.

The Trade and Export Promotion Centre (TEPC) nominates the companies and business professionals each year to honor them with the CIP award. In the award function, 25 traders and companies had received the award in various categories. The award is a gesture of appreciation for the contribution to the economy of Nepal. Ms. Sherpa who is also co-founder of Felt and Yarn was honored with a CIP logo, certificate, and CIP card for the effort of her and her team for the extraordinary impact made to uplift the Nepalese Felt industry into a global space.

Further, as the CIP, Ms. Sherpa received facilities as a VIP in Tribhuvan International Airport of Nepal and CIP Lounge at the airport of Nepal including special visa process for foreign travel and VIP Lounge facility in other domestic airports. Other facilities include entry at Singh Durbar, the Government Secretariat office, and health facilities provided by the Government of Nepal.

A philanthropist by nature, Ms. Sunita mentions this is a great achievement not just for her but the entire Felt and Yarn team, especially, hundreds of craftswomen engaged with Felt and Yarn. Sunita adds “I feel privileged that I could represent the voice of many women who are bold and courageous as an only female entrepreneur in the Felt Industry. Hopefully, Nepal will get to know more empowering women entrepreneurs in the near future.”

This remarks a new milestone for Felt and Yarn and a ray of hope for individuals who want to step in in the felt business.
